Ah, the much awaited season of the year – 🌞 summer. The season where we all get to soak up under the sun and enjoy the outdoors after hibernating indoors with our hot cocoas and warm fireplaces.
Also, what is that much awaited getaway most folks look forward to in the summer? Camping. This is the ultimate event for the outdoorsy ones like me. I mean, I try to at least. For Summer 2022, I present Honeymoon Campground Washington State.
For Summer 2022, I’ve decided to visit The North Cascades and enter 🐻 Bear Country once again (in hopes of seeing one in the flesh). Also, I’ve never been, so might as well pick a new forest this time around.
If you like to camp or have never done so in your life but would love to start, then you should. Nature is beautiful and inspiring. It’s a great way to take a break and relieve yourself of all the stress from work or school or what-have-you.
Honeymoon Campground
Honeymoon Campground Winthrop, WA is nestled at the border of the beautiful North Cascades National Park and Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest just northwest of the quaint town of Winthrop, WA. It is about 10-15 minutes away from town in case you need to buy firewood, ice, and other necessities you have forgotten at home (because you likely will do). If not, then you’re next level to pro status, my friend.
It is along NF-5130 where NF stands for National Forest. Some call it Forestry Roads while some call it National Forestry Roads which basically mean the same thing. These roads are for the most part unpaved, meaning they are either gravel or dirt roads and sometimes are filled with a whole lotta 🕳 potholes depending on how well-maintained they are.

Honeymoon Campground Campsites
Campsite 1
This site has the best shade out of the 5 available. However, it is closest to the vault toilets (if that's an issue). If you're like me, I don't like being right beside the toilets unless it is at a good distance away from my campsite.
Campsite 2
This site has the best RV site out of the 5 available. However, there is no shade at all. With that said, having a tarp or canopy would be good to have.
Campsite 3
This site is probably okay for RVs but I could not recall. There is also no shade on this campsite so a good-sized canopy or tarp would be a good idea.
Campsite 4
This campsite has very little shade as you can tell from the picture. The wonderful thing about this site is that it's directly beside the creek. I would've picked this site if it weren't for the no-shade part on the picnic tables (or if I had a canopy of some sort). You can sit on the picnic table and waddle your feet in the water while munching on good food.
Campsite 5
Okay, Site 5 is the best among all of the sites. There is some shade and lots of privacy because the site is somewhat down the hill. It also has direct access to the creek! This was where I and my boyfriend camped out on.
We stayed here for five days and out of the days we were here, we pretty much had the whole campsite to ourselves. Also, if you ever find the campsites are all occupied, there are three more campgrounds down south which you'd pass by on the way here. Honeymoon Campground is the last campground on this road. If worse comes to worst, there are also plenty of dispersed campsites along the road.
There are plenty of flies during the day which are replaced by mosquitoes at night, so bring your repellants as needed. On the flip side, there were no bears encountered, just deer.
